Who we are

Advocates for Legal and Systemic change

The Guyana Equality Forum (GEF) is a network of civil groups, human rights defenders and individuals who share a commitment to advancing equality in Guyana, working cohesively to achieve equal rights and justice for all Guyanese. The GEF was established in 2010 and advocates for the promotion and protection of human rights, with a focus on marginalized and vulnerable groups in Guyana.

The GEF’s primary objective is to work towards the elimination of discrimination and the promotion of social justice in Guyana. The GEF does this by raising awareness about human rights issues affecting marginalized communities and advocating for policy and legal reforms that promote equality and non-discrimination. Additionally, the GEF provides support to individuals and communities who have experienced discrimination and human rights abuses.

The organization’s work is centered around several key issues, including gender equality, LGBTQ+ rights, disability rights, and the rights of indigenous peoples. GEF believes that addressing these issues is crucial to creating a more just and equitable society in Guyana. The GEF achieves its objectives by engaging in strategic advocacy and lobbying efforts at the national and international levels. This includes working with government officials, policymakers, and international organizations to promote laws and policies that protect the rights of marginalized groups.

Company start up
